What We Do:
UnGun.org has been collecting guns for over 3 years in order to build one of the most unique structures in the world: Peace and Love Tower. Peace and Love will be located in downtown Manhattan and its main structure will be supported by 5,000,000 guns that have been donated to the cause. People just like you have donated their guns, or money, in order to stop the bloodshed. The structure will feature a top heavy design and the walls will act as one large greenhouse. Choski and Associates, a leading architectural firm, won the contract to build the structure in 2006.
How we Turn Guns into a Building:
We take donations of new or used guns and melt the material into a frame that will be able to support the thousand foot tower. The core of Peace and Love Tower will be made purely of melted down guns, which is why we need your help! We we approved for funding by government grants that will cover all construction and labor, the only thing we need is more guns! When Peace and Love tower was first proposed in 2002 we were approved for funding under one condition: we locate and trackdown 5,000,000 guns. In the last three years we have collected over 3,500,000 guns, and are deadline is looming. We need approxiametly 1,500,000 more guns by 2010 in order to meet our obligation.
How You Can Help:
You can help in many ways! First and formost is donating your gun for our cause, and don’t forget to ask your friends and family to donate their guns! The next best thing you could do is donate money. All of the money from our advertisments on this website and money donated will go directly to buying new guns. Purchasing most of the guns new for this project is key, because it symbolizes stopping the killing before it even starts.
What is Peace and Love Tower Going to be Used for?
We plan on making the tower into one large greenhouse. The 800,000 square foot greenhouse will grow all kinds of plants and flowers. The plants and flowers will be sent each year to every victim of gun violence in the world. This will create an awareness like no other program has ever done before. We estimate that approxabitly 10,000,000 are killed each year by gun violence, and it will be matched by over 120,000,000 roses grown out of Peace and Love Tower each year. Thats right, a dozen roses for every victim.
